A Message of Greeting

Dear colleagues, industry representatives, students, and guests,

On behalf of the German Small Animal Veterinary Association (GSAVA; Deutsche Gesellschaft für Kleintiermedizin, DGK-DVG) it’s a great pleasure for me to invite you to attend the 20th Eurocongress of the Federation of the European Companion Animal Veterinary Associations (FECAVA) and also the 60th annual Congress of the German Small Animal Veterinary Association.

We are looking forward to an exciting and comprehensive, yes, an unique event here in the International Conference Center Munich (ICM) from November 6 to 9, 2014.

Munich: The "Metropolis with Heart" is expecting you. The city combines economics, technology, and science with culture. Its hotels are world class and the public infrastructure is very efficient. With its unparalleled atmosphere and high leisure value (well known as "Gemütlichkeit"), Munich is a captivating venue, offering a wide range of attractive opportunities, to enjoy art, culture and entertainment that helps you to relax and recover after an intense professional program.

The International Congress Center Munich on the grounds of the Munich Trade Fair Centre is one of the most modern and successful congress centres in the world. Its prestigious and inviting atmosphere and the fact that it satisfies all the prerequisites for events of any size makes it an outstanding venue for the FECAVA and GSAVA Congress and provides you first-class amenities.

The scientific programme will meet the needs of today's small animal veterinarians. A wide range of themes will be incorporated in the scientific programme attracting veterinary experts and graduates as well as veterinary students. In addition to the main lectures, seminars and practical labs will give opportunity for in depth education. Researchers will be encouraged to submit abstracts in order to compose a free communication programme, after an appropriate peer review process. A comprehensive and easily accessible poster session will complete the scientific programme. Besides, a special programme will be offered to veterinary nurses/technicians likewise at basic and advanced levels.

An attractive social programme is an essential part of any successful conference.

We couldn’t bring the FECAVA Congress to the Oktoberfest, so we propose to bring Munich’s world-famous beer festival to the conference. Join us on Friday evening for a night of Bavarian festivities, hearty food and Munich’s legendary beer! A Bavarian Brass Band will set the spirit of the evening.

GSAVA runs a very successful commercial exhibition each year at its Annual Congress. At the ICM up to 8.000 sqm exhibition space is available ensuring that all interested companies can be accommodated. Meeting rooms and conference registration will be located in close proximity to the exhibition.

We look forward to meeting you in Munich.

With best regards,

Friedrich Röcken, Dr. med. vet., Dipl ECVS
President GSAVA
